Aysha Martin

A is for…Academia. Accomplished. Amazing. Admirable.A is for…Aysha. Pronounced almost like Asia, but with an emphasis on the “Sh,” when Aysha speaks, it is important to listen.

Born in Maryland, Aysha Nicole Martin relocated to Florida during her youth. Since her arrival, she was raised by her loving and supportive grandparents, Edwin and Bonita Martin. From their inspiration and encouragement, Aysha became motivated to excel and seek higher education.Concerns arose about where the money would come from to pay for college. Since they are long-standing, active members of the Afro-American Club of Citrus County (AACCC), her grandparents encouraged her to apply for scholarships through the non-profit.Success! The Lecanto High School graduate applied for and was awarded multiple scholarships from the AACCC. These helped her in her journey, allowing her to graduate from UCF in 2024, where she earned her B.S. In Health Science with a minor in Health Administration. In 2026, she earned her Master of Science in Medical Science (M.S.M.S.) from USF, accompanied by a certificate in Professional Pharmacology.

The path along the way was not linear. Her major changed from Aerospace Engineering to Kinesiology to Biology to Biomedical Science to Neuroscience. Her eventual degrees allow her to see patients as a whole person, not just cells and organs. The administrative aspect provides her with balanced knowledge and solidifies her foundation in healthcare. Aysha is a first-generation college graduate who holds herself to high standards. She expresses tremendous gratitude for the sacrifices her grandparents made.Her plans and goals for the future include traveling the globe, opening a private practice, and bridging gaps in healthcare. Aysha’s forward and upward momentum continues in just a few months when she begins a certificate program at the University of Florida for Biomedical Neuroscience. Once complete, she will then apply to medical school. Aysha is actively involved with the Special Olympics of Orange County. She coaches and mentors children with learning and cognitive disabilities.
