Founded in 1989, the Afro-American Club of Citrus County has proudly served its community for 37 years. This past year marked a historic achievement: the Club awarded $24.000 in scholarships across 21 recipients - the highest amount in its history. Since 1989, the Club has distributed over $2000.000 in scholarships, supported by local Businesses, private donors, and members.
Scholarship recipients represent three categories: Graduating high school seniors, adults returning to school to pursue a degree, and individuals preparing for careers in public service
Our president, Ron Daly, captures our mission: “Though we are a small minority, just 3% of Citrus County’s population, our commitment is immeasurable. We give 100% of our passion, strength, and love to help students achieve their dreams and to shape a safer, more vibrant Citrus County for everyone. Our diversity is our strength, and together, we create hope for the future.”
