Afro-American Club Of Citrus County

Home

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. We encourage you to browse the site and become familiar with our mission within beautiful Citrus County. As a 501(c) 3 organization, we take great pride in our participation in the welfare of our youth. We provide mentoring and scholarships for higher education, and we are also very involved in the Guardian Ad Litem program.

From humble beginnings in 1989, starting with only 15 members, we have grown into a dedicated and fully involved group within the community, helping with projects for Habitat for Humanity, providing assistance to less fortunate families, distributing Thanksgiving meals, helping to support the “Blessings in a Backpack” program and supportingDaystar Life Center food pantry. Through our “Penny Harvest” contributions, we have been able to provide various forms of financial assistance where needed in the community, including lending a helping hand to Camp E-Nini-Hassee. And our scholarship awards over the past seven years have been in excess of $70,000. But it's not all work, we also love to play!Throughout the year, we find time to participate in several social events -- Caribbean cruises, bus trips and dances -- which all help to support our activities. Our affiliation with the African American club in Hernando County provides more opportunities for participating in social activities.

We gratefully acknowledge, and take great pride in being honored by the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce with the JOHN T. BARNES AWARD for our diligence and dedication within the community. We have also received the Community Action Foundation’s award for Outstanding Contributor for the 2008-2009 year. Our current all-female board is working to substantially increase club membership, and we aim to acquire a building to accommodate expanding membership.

Although we are the Afro-American Club, all Citrus County residents are welcome to become members. Membership dues are only $20 annually and/or larger tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted. A membership form is available on the website for your convenience and can be mailed to the address below.  Looking forwarding to having you on our team!
